My name is Bill Storvoll. I’m a technologist for a multi-national telecommunications conglomerate. I am also a minister who worships at Rhema Christian Center in Columbus, OH.
In 2013, I participated in the Ohio Leadership Covenant Collaborative hosted by Raycenia Moyer of NewB® Leadership Center in partnership with my Pastor, Dr. La Fayette Scales, Apostle. Taking part in this collaboration began as a practicum assignment which was given to me by my ministry leader. Although it started out as an assignment, because of the spiritual growth I experienced, I realized there was more in store for me so I chose to go further.
Initially, I wasn’t aware of any specific needs that I expected NewB® Leadership Center to fulfill. I just knew I wanted to progress spiritually, i.e., grow and mature. The more I heard during the leadership sessions, the more my spirit was impacted, and the more I learned.
This experience really opened my eyes to some of the mindsets I harbored and some of the problems related to the Church that I was ignorant to. My involvement allowed my spirit to be fed so I grew from being a spectator to an active member to a team leader.
One of the unique things NewB® Leadership Center emphasizes is the application of Jesus Christ to every area of your life. In this ministry you are trained that Jesus’ impact and influence go beyond the church building on Sunday mornings. They constantly remind you that Jesus has left the building and is present everywhere you are because He lives in the believer. They helped me realize there can still be hurt, darkness and fear present in the heart of the believer, and it must be dealt with through the ministry of Jesus Christ. They also focus on you using your skills and anointing together wherever you are. So expertise, intelligence, skill, spiritual gifting, calling and mantle must all be present and used in the marketplace, the church and everywhere you are. One of my favorite things about NewB® Leadership Center is their push to close the gap between knowledge and application.
NewB® Leadership helped me submit to the Lordship of Jesus which translated into me following the leadership of Jesus and reaping the benefits. This was a radical reconstruction of my thinking: from discussion to plan of action, from enlightenment to application, from diagnosing the problem to being part of the solution.
I believe we are in a time and culture where many are convinced that Jesus Christ, His church and being led by the Holy Spirit are irrelevant. The training that NewB® Leadership does demonstrates that Jesus Christ and biblical principles are relevant and necessary now in today’s culture.
